Man facing charges in connection with two robberies

The Timmins Police Service has arrested and charged a local man with a number of Criminal Code offences stemming from two robberies that occurred in quick succession last week.

A robbery occurred at an Algonquin Boulevard gas station during the early morning hours of Thursday, Oct. 27, and a second robbery was committed by the same suspect at a Pine Street South variety store during the early morning hours of Friday, Oct. 28.

Based on the ensuing investigations, Timmins Police Service Criminal Investigations Division officers were able to link a singular accused to both occurrences.

The suspect was arrested on Friday morning as the result of a lengthy and complicated foot chase ending in a hotel parking garage.

Based on the outcome of the respective investigations, Brandon Roy, 28, of Timmins, has been charged with:

  • Two counts of robbery with a weapon, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Two counts of possession of property obtained by crime, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused person remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
