Man charged after a number of convenience store shoplifting incidents

A 42-year-old has been charged with theft, possession of stolen property

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with theft-related offences stemming from a series of theft incidents that occurred at a Toke Street convenience store. 

A Timmins Police Service officer responded to a call for service where a male party was being held awaiting police arrival after a number of shoplifting incidents had been observed being completed by the suspect on April 13th, 17th, and one final time on April 18th. 

The responding officer took the man into custody based on the evidence provided by the store clerk and placed him under arrest. 

As a result of the incidents, Adam Porter, 42, of Timmins, has been charged with: 

  • 3 counts of Theft Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • 3 counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of  Canada. 

Porter remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial  Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
