Man arrested after allegedly assaulting victim with flashlight

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with assault-related Criminal Code offences stemming from an incident that occurred during the early evening hours of Saturday, Sept. 18 in front of an Algonquin Blvd restaurant.

The Timmins Police Service responded to a call for service where a 23-year-old male person had been physically assaulted by a male suspect in a physical altercation. The investigation revealed that two men were having a conversation in front of the restaurant when, in an unprovoked manner, the one man removed a flashlight from his personal belongings and struck the other man on the head repeatedly.

The assaulted man sustained a laceration during the altercation. Based on investigation, the suspect was identified, located, and arrested by the Timmins Police Service a short while later. Based on the outcome of the investigation into the incident, Jeremy Nakogee, 23, of Timmins is charged with:

  •  Aggravated assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Fail to comply with probation order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Fail to comply with release order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused person remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
