Kirkland Lake resident faces shoplifting charges

Police say they responded to a theft from a business located on Summerhayes Avenue

KIRKLAND LAKE – On Aug. 9, 2021, frontline members from the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a theft from a business located on Summerhayes Avenue in the Town of Kirkland Lake.

As a result of the investigation, Alicia Gauthier, 34 years of age, of Kirkland Lake, has been arrested and charged with:

  • Theft Under $5,000, contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code (CC) 
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC 
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the CC

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on Sept. 2, 2021, in Kirkland Lake.
