Friday night dispute leaves two with injuries: Police

The Timmins Police Service has investigated a disturbance that occurred during the late evening hours of Friday, Oct. 8 that resulted in injury to a 21-year-old female person and a 22-year-old male person.

Based on investigation, it was determined that a verbal dispute amongst acquaintances had taken place at a Louise Street residence.

The dispute escalated to the point of violence where the subject struck both victims with a weapon.

The 21-year-old female was transported to hospital by ambulance for treatment for a head injury.

The 22-year-old male person declined medical treatment. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival.

The responding Timmins Police officers were able to identify, locate, and arrest the suspect at another location the following day.

As a result, Ronald Mark, 65 of Timmins, has been charged with:
    •    aggravated assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    assault with a weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    two counts of fail to comply with undertaking contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody for the purposes of a bail hearing slated for today at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
