The Timmins Police Service has charged a local woman with an impaired driving-related Criminal Code offence stemming from an incident that occurred yesterday morning (Aug. 17) at an Algonquin Blvd gas station.

A Timmins Police officer had occasion to approach and interview the driver of a 1986 Ford pickup truck in the gas station parking lot in regards to the vehicle being driven in an erratic fashion.

The officer made independent observations about the driver’s sobriety and made a demand of the driver to complete a Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST). The driver refused to comply with the lawful demand made of her at the scene.

As a result of the incident, Francine Longpre, 55, of Timmins, has been charged with:

  • Fail or refuse to comply with demand contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused was released from police custody on the strength of an Undertaking compelling her to attend at provincial court in Timmins on Sept. 14 to address the charge laid against her.
