Empty Schumacher apartment vandalized, says police

Police allege there was a brief altercation during the arrest

A Schumacher apartment was vandalized during a break-in, says police. 

On Jan. 18 during the noon hour, Timmins Police says that a suspect "gained entry" to a vacant apartment in Schumacher and vandalized the unit. 

Police found the suspect leaving the area and they were arrested after a brief altercation. 

A 35-year-old man from Timmins is charged with: 

  • Being unlawfully in a dwelling house
  • Mischief - damage to property
  • Fail to comply with release order
  • Fail to comply with probation order
  • Assault peace officer
  • Resist police officer 

The accused is in police custody waiting for a bail hearing today. 

None of the charges have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
