Driver charged with impaired in Cochrane

The 43-year-old faces multiple charges

On Nov. 16, 2021, members of the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an unwanted person and a possible impaired driver on Silver Queen Lake Road, North of Cochrane.

Officers located the described motor vehicle on Silver Queen Lake Road and spoke with the driver.

Further investigation revealed that the driver was found to have consumed alcoholic beverages.

As a result, the driver was arrested, driver's licence suspended, and the vehicle was towed and impounded. Timothy Fillion, 43 years old of Cochrane, was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs, contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand, contrary to section 320.15(1) of the CC
  • Mischief Under $5000 (Two Counts), contrary to section 430(4) of the CC
  • Obstruct Peace Officer (Two Counts), contrary to section 129(a)
  • Trespassing at Night, contrary to section 177 of the CC
  • Resist Peace Officer, contrary to section 129(a) of the CC
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the CC
  • Assault a Peace Officer, contrary to section 270(1)(a) of the CC
  • Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest, contrary to section 270(1)(b) of the CC

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on November 17, 2021 in Cochrane.
