Driver charged with impaired after single-vehicle crash

A Haileybury resident is facing an impaired driving charge after a single-vehicle crash. 

Around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 25, James Bay OPP responded to the Highway 11 collision in Hannah Township. 

OPP allege the driver had consumed alcohol and was brought to the detachment for more testing.

A 48-year-old from Haileybury is charged with operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs, failure or refusal to comply with demand, having care or control of a motor vehicle with liquor readily available, and drive motor vehicle failing to display two plates.

The accused had their vehicle impounded for seven days and was given a 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension. They are slated to appear in a Cochrane court on July 25.

The charges have not been tested in court.
