Driver charged after trying to escape police

Police say the 31-year-old was also in possession of a controlled substance

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with Criminal Code driving offences stemming from an incident that occurred during the afternoon hours of Friday, Sept. 10 in Timmins.

While completing general patrols of a residential area, a Timmins Police Service officer observed a passenger vehicle at the intersection of Brousseau Avenue and MacLean Drive being driven by a person believed to be wanted on the strength of a warrant held by the Timmins Police.

The driver attempted to evade the police by opting to drive at a high rate of speed and engaging in a number of unsafe driving manoeuvres.

The driver was eventually located and arrested at a Denise Street address.

A quantity of a controlled substance was located on the suspect’s person during the arrest.

As a result of the investigation by the Timmins Police Service, Brad Dubois, 31, of Timmins has been charged with: 

  • Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • Flight from Police contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substance Act

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a Bail Hearing slated for today at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
