Driver charged after allegedly being found unconscious in vehicle

Prohibited weapon, suspected meth, opioids and cocaine seized

A Kirkland Lake resident is facing charges after police received a report of someone unconscious behind the wheel of a vehicle. 

Kirkland Lake OPP responded to the call on McCamus Avenue in Kirkland Lake just before 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 14. 

"Police located the vehicle and determined that the driver was under the influence of drugs. Further investigation resulted in the seizure of a prohibited weapon and drugs suspected to be methamphetamine, opioids and cocaine. The driver was arrested and transported to the OPP detachment to conduct further testing," reads the OPP news release.

A 41-year-old from Kirkland Lake has been charged with operation while impaired - drugs, possession of a prohibited device, and possession charges for methamphetamine, opioid and cocaine.

The accused was released from custody and is slated to appear in court on Jan. 12.
