Disturbance leads to uttering threats charge

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with a Criminal Code offence stemming from an incident that occurred during the morning hours of Friday, May 27 at an Algonquin Boulevard West coffee shop.

A Timmins Police Service officer responded to a disturbance between a customer and an aggressive panhandler who had uttered a threat to the patron as he was leaving the shop.

Based on the ensuing investigation, the subject of the complaint was identified, located, and taken into custody by the Timmins Police Service later that same day.

Based on the outcome of the incident, Michel Theriault, 37 of Timmins, has been charged with:
    •    Utter threats contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused person was released from police custody at a Bail Hearing held at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins on the strength of an Undertaking which compels the accused to attend court on June 15 to answer to the charge laid against him.
