The Timmins Police Service has charged a local person with break and enter related offences stemming from an incident that occurred during the late evening hours of Friday, Oct. 8 at a Moneta Avenue industrial site.

The Timmins Police responded to a call for service where a person had gained entry onto the site by means of cutting a hole in the perimeter fencing with the use of burglary tools.

The incident was discovered by means of the on-site security system.

Upon police arrival, the lone male suspect was located and arrested on-site and found to be in possession of a quantity of stolen copper wire and other tools.

As a result of the incident, Augustine Scott, 33, of Timmins, has been charged with:
    •    break and enter with intent contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    possession of break-in instruments contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    fail to comply with release order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    possession of property obtained by crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
