Cochrane teen charged with break and enter

Two face charges in relation to the July 24 incident

COCHRANE - On July 24, 2021, members of the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call of break and enter after the fact at a residence on Lakefront Avenue in the Town of Cochrane.

Police spoke to the homeowner who advised that numerous items had been stolen.

On Aug. 9, 2021, Cochrane OPP received a call from the homeowner advising that some of their stolen items were being sold on Facebook.

As a result a 15-year-old youth of Cochrane who cannot be identified under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) was charged with:
    •    possession property obtained by crime under $5,000 - in Canada, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC
    •    break and enter a dwelling house with intent to commit indictable offence, contrary to section 348(1)(a) of the CC

Andrew Kennedy, 22 years old from Cochrane was charged with:
    •    possession property obtained by crime under $5,000 - in Canada, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC

The accused are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Aug. 17, 2021 in Cochrane.
