COBALT - On May 7, 2021, members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) commenced an investigation into a sexual assault.
The alleged incident occurred in May 2021 involving an incident in the Town of Cobalt.
A 23-year-old resident of Cobalt has been arrested and charged with:
- Sexual assault, contrary to section 271 of the Criminal Code (CC)
- Fail to comply with probation order, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the CC
The accused was held for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date in the City of Temiskaming Shores.
The OPP will not be releasing the name of the accused in order to protect the identity of the victim.
