Call of intoxicated pedestrian leads to arrest of wanted man

The Timmins Police Service arrested a local resident on the strength of an arrest warrant that was executed stemming from an incident that occurred during the evening of Aug. 5.

A Timmins Police Service officer responded to a call for service regarding an intoxicated pedestrian who had entering into the path of oncoming traffic on Algonquin Blvd. The subject of the complaint was located by the Timmins Police officer and taken into police custody for his own well-being.

The pedestrian was found to be a “wanted person” named in a current arrest warrant held by the Timmins Police. Once the validity of the warrant was confirmed, the subject was arrested by the Timmins Police Service.

As a result, Austin Kioke, 25, of Timmins was arrested on the strength of the warrant. He remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at provincial court in Timmins to answer to charges resulting in the Arrest Warrant being issued.
