Call leads to impaired charge in Cochrane

Police say they responded to a report, located the suspected vehicle at the owner's registered address where they determined the 54-year-old had consumed alcohol before driving

On Sept. 18, 2021, members of the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a possible impaired driver in the Town of Cochrane, and provided an Ontario licence plate number of the motor vehicle.

Police conducted an Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) query which revealed the registered owners address. Police located the suspected vehicle at the owners registered address, and subsequently spoke with the driver. 

Further investigation revealed that the driver was found to have consumed alcoholic beverages.

As a result, the driver was arrested, driver's licence suspended, and the vehicle was towed and impounded.

Alice Robin, 54-years-old of Cochrane, was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired - Alcohol and Drugs, contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) (80 plus), contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the CC

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on Oct. 26, 2021 in Cochrane.
