Alberta resident killed in crash near Chapleau

An Alberta resident died in a crash south of Chapleau earlier this month. 

Superior East OPP has identified the victim of the single-vehicle crash as 51-year-old Adbul Hashmi. 

The crash happened just after 4 p.m. on Dec. 4 near the intersection of Highway 129 and Highway 667, about 40 kilometres south of Chapleau.

The four-door SUV was northbound on Highway 129 when it left the road and entered the southbound ditch, said police.

After the crash, both lanes of Highway 129 between Chapleau and Thessalon were closed for hours and have reopened. The police investigation is ongoing and includes the Northeast Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement team.
