KIRKLAND LAKE – On Aug. 14, 2021, members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began an investigation into a sexual assault incident that occurred in the Town of Kirkland Lake.
As a result of the investigation, a 44-year-old person, from Marquis Township, has been arrested and charged with Sexual Assault, contrary to section 271 of the Criminal Code.
The OPP will not release names in order to protect the identity of the victim.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.
