$20K in drugs, cash seized in Kapuskasing

KAPUSKASING - During the afternoon of June 10, 2020, members of the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) and of the Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) warrant on a motor vehicle and at a residence on De L'Etang Boulevard in the Town of Kapuskasing.

Police seized suspected cocaine, drug paraphernalia, a prohibited weapon and Canadian currency, all with a combined estimated street value of approximately $20,000.

Sandra Arsenault, 60 years old of Kapuskasing, and Ashley Boudreau, 26 years old of London, Ont., were arrested and have been charged with the following offences:
    •    Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking contrary to section 5(2) CDSA,
    •    Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC), and
    •    Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition contrary to section 92(2) CC.

The accused persons were released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Kapuskasing on Sept. 14, 2020, to answer to the charges.
