One person was killed in a crash on Highway 11 in Iroquois Falls early this morning, say OPP.

Police said the collision happened south of Municipal Road around 1:30 a.m. Feb. 16.

The road remains closed in both directions from Municipal Road to the Highway 101 junction.

OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) and the Office of the Chief Coroner - Ontario Forensic Pathology Service are helping with the investigation.

Detours are available.

Northbound traffic from Matheson can take Highway 101 to Municipal Road, which will take them to Highway 11.

Southbound traffic can take Municipal Road to Highway 101 to Highway 11.

Because of the detour, there is an increase in heavy truck traffic passing through Timmins. Timmins Police has issued a traffic advisory

Commercial motor vehicle drivers are also reminded that they must drive in the curb lane through Timmins.

This is at least the third fatality on Highway 11 so far this year. There have also been a number of serious crashes.
