Traffic being rerouted through Timmins after fatal crash on Highway 11

CMV drivers reminded they have to stick to the curb lane while driving through Timmins

With traffic being rerouted through Timmins following a fatal crash on Highway 11, Timmins. Police have issued a traffic advisory. 

There is an increase in the number of transports on the main road through Timmins. Around 9 a.m., there were about 40 transports lined up driving westbound through town on Algonquin Boulevard from Casey's to Porcupine Ski Runners. 

The Highway 11 crash is between Municipal Road and the Highway 11 junction in Matheson. 

The detours being used include Highway 11 and Highway 655, as well as Municipal Road for lighter traffic.

"It is further advised that all commercial Motor vehicle (CMV) operators be aware and abide fully with all pertinent municipal by-laws and established truck routes," said Timmins Police in a news release.  

"In particular, the requirement to drive in the curb lane in all four-lane settings within city limits must be respected."

All drivers are asked to be patient and drive according to the changing road conditions due to the snow in the area, said police.
