With hot, dry weather the City of Timmins is reminding people about its outdoor water bylaw.
From May to August, the external water use bylaw allows homes with municipal addresses ending in 0, 2, 4, 6 and 8 to water outside on even calendar days. On odd calendar days, addresses ending in 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 are permitted to use water outside.
While water can be used at all addresses for small pools, water sprinklers and other recreational uses, if you’re using if for these purposes there must be people present or you could face a penalty.
If there is an emergency period where it’s likely that the demand for water will reduce the water pressure below what’s required, a temporary proclamation regulating the use of water can be issued. In those instances, using water outdoors requires a permit from the chief administrative officer.
