Flags at municipal buildings will be lowered on Sunday, April 28.

Lowering the flags to half-mast is in honour of the National Day of Mourning, which is also known as the Workers' Day of Mourning.

The annual event is to honour people who lost their lives in a workplace tragedy and to acknowledge the impact of work-related injury and illness.

"The City of Timmins is committed to providing our employees with a healthy and safe workplace. Through our health and safety department, we work dutifully to train, enforce, standardize, and ensure that safety protocols are in place that prevent both physical and mental injury and illness," reads a city news release.
