Who are the top public sector earners in Timmins?

The 2017 Sunshine list is out.

Each year, the province is required to release information on all public sector employees who were paid $100,000 or more.

With hundreds of people from the Timmins area on the list, here are some of the top earners.

At Timmins and District Hospital, 61 staff members made the list.

President and CEO Blaise Macneil was the top earner, having been paid $280,000.

After that, the top earners were:

  • Joan Ludwig, vice president clinical, $183,450
  • Bryan Bennetts, vice president stewardship accountability/CFO, $178,754
  • Lorna Moreau, registered nurse, $175,055
  • Mike Resetar, vice president of human resources/director of operations, $166,555

At the City of Timmins, which includes municipal staff, Timmins Police and Timmins Firefighters, 104 people made the cut.

Earning $189,477, Chief of Police John Gauthier  is at the top of the list.

Other top earners include:

  • Des Walsh, deputy chief of police, $174,579
  • David Landers, City of Timmins CAO, $165,669
  • Rock Foy, director of corporate services, $163,846
  • Mark Jensen, director of community and development services, $159,816

District School Board Ontario North East has 66 people on the list.

Director of education Linda Knight, who retired last year, was the top earner at $228,890. She was followed by:

  • Pearl Fong-West, superintendent of business/finance and treasurer, $172,511.
  • Jo-Anne Plaunt, superintendent of schools, $164,864
  • Steven Pladzyk, superintendent of schools, $160,838
  • Sandra Leigh, superintendent of schools, $156,863

Eight people from the Board of Health for the Porcupine Health Unit are also on the list.

The top earner there was Lianne Catton, acting Medical Officer of Health, $277,269.
