Find out how much Timmins council members made last year

More than $300K paid out in salaries/expenses

The City of Timmins paid out more than $300,000 in salaries and expenses for council members in 2017.

Each year municipalities are required to reveal how much council members were paid in salary and expenses.

The 2017 report is on the agenda for the March 27 council meeting.

It reveals that last year, the total remuneration paid to council members was $241,035.55, with $70,405.47 paid out in expenses, for an overall price tag of $311,441.02. That total is a slight drop from 2016, when the total was $313,144.50.

Mayor Steve Black tops the list at $87,451, which includes $74,588.28 in remuneration and $12,863.56 in expenses.

For all the councillors, the salary is $20,822.18, except for Veronica Farrell who was appointed after Andre Grzela left early last year.  

The expenses paid to each councillor are:

  • Pat Bamford - $9,701.68, for a total of $30,523.86 including remuneration
  • Rick Dubeau - $9,517.50, for a total of $30,339.68 including remuneration
  • Andrew Marks - $9,317.34, for a total of $30,139.52 including remuneration
  • Walter Wawrzaszek - $8,057, for a total of $28,879.18 including remuneration
  • Mike Doody - $7,519.32, for a total of $28,341.50 including remuneration
  • Joe Campbell - $5,225.64, for a total of $26,047.82 including remuneration
  • Veronica Farrell - $5,310.58, who also earned $19,648.52 in remuneration for a total of $24,959.10
  • Noella Rinaldo, $2,892.85, for a total of $23,715.03 including remuneration
  • Andre Grzela, no expenses were paid, however he earned $1,043.49 in remuneration

The report also breaks down the expenses paid to members of different boards and committees, such as the District of Cochrane Social Services Administration Board, Porcupine Health Unit, Mattagami Region Conservation Authority, and more.
