Sunshine List reveals this year's top earners

The Sunshine List for sectors in the Timmins area has grown.

Each year, the province is required to release information on all public sector employees who were paid more than $100,000.

With hundreds of people from the Timmins area on the list, here are some of the top earners in 2018.

At the City of Timmins, which includes salaries for municipal staff, Timmins Police and Timmins Firefighters, the list has grown by 20 people.

In 2018, 124 staff made the cut, whereas in 2017 there were 104 names.

Having made $198,376.59 last year, Police Chief John Gauthier remains the highest earner at the city.

Other top earners there include:

  • CAO Dave Landers, $192,280.90
  • Director of Corporate Services Rock Foy, $166,958.50
  • Director of Community and Development Services Mark Jensen, $162,460.90
  • Deputy Police Chief Henry Dacosta, $161,588.73
  • Insp. Richard Blanchette, $150,559.19

The list of sunshine list employees at Timmins and District Hospital has also grown.

For 2018, 79 staff  are included, whereas that number was 61 in 2017.

The top five earners there are:

  • President and CEO Blaise McNeil, $281,502.04
  • Vice president Clinical/Chief Nursing Officer Joan Ludwig, $191,467.21
  • Registered Nurse Lorna Moreau, $174,807.18
  • Vice President Stewardship and Accountability Bryan Bennetts, $173,417.67
  • Vice President of Human Resources Mike Resetar, $158,280.66

The number of people on the sunshine list at District School Board Ontario North East has also expanded from 66 people in 2017 to 104 in 2018.

The top earners are:

  • Director of Education Lesleigh Dye, $214,419.63
  • Superintendent of Business/Finance and Treasurer Pearl Fong-West, $180,874
  • Superintendent of Schools Jo-Anne Plaunt, $175,454.87
  • Superintendent of Schools Steve Pladzyk, $161,880.78
  • Superintendent of Human Resources James Rowe, $161,617.24

Nine people at the Porcupine Health Unit made the cut.

The top earner there was Acting Medical Officer of Health Lianne Catton, who took home $283,433.16.

The other health unit staff on the list are:

  • CAO Donald West, $143,041.08
  • Manager of Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention Joelle Aubin, $122,227.18
  • Manager of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Services Lynn Leggett, $122,227.18
  • Manager of Administrative Services Mary-Lou Pollon, $117,275.47
  • Manager of Family Health Chantal Riopel, $114,175.11
  • Manager of Dental and Preschool Speech and Language Anna Gauthier, $105,623.32
  • Manager of Public Health Inspection Suzanne Lajoie, $104,029.8
  • Human Resource Officer Anne Jensen, $101,084.23

At Northern College, 65 staff are on the list.

The top earner at the school was president Fred Gibbons, who made $263,007.36 in 2018.

Timmins MPP Gilles Bisson, who is the House Leader of the Official Opposition, made $136,515.34.
