Stolen vehicle in ditch leads to charges

KIRKLAND LAKE – In the early morning hours of Thursday, March 5, 2016, members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Highway 11, Eby Township.

Police investigation resulted in the male being arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and further investigation revealed that the vehicle was stolen.

As a result of this investigation, Trevor Palmer, age 32 of Kirkland Lake, Ontario has been charged with Driving Over 80, Driving While Ability Impaired Driving, Theft Over $5,000 and Possession Property Obtained by Crime.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on April 28, 2016.

The OPP is reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol consumption when driving. 

Anyone who suspects a driver is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
