The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man stemming from a RIDE spot check conducted in Timmins during the early evening hours of Thursday, Sept. 6. While performing the RIDE spot check program at the intersection of Norman Street and Lafleur Drive, a Timmins Police Service officer had occasion to interview the driver of a pickup truck who allegedly had been drinking.
The driver was subjected to a roadside screening device test which registered a fail on the Approved Screening Device. Based on this outcome, the driver was arrested and taken into custody in order to complete Intoxilyzer breath testing procedures.
As a result of the incident, Sven Bartholomaus, 46, of Timmins, has been charged with:
Impaired operation of a motor vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Operate motor vehicle – over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100 milliliters of blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
The accused was released from custody and is required to attend Provincial Court on Sept. 18 to answer to the charges laid against him.
