Water on the Mattagami River is nearly at the top of the boat launch. A flood warning was issued for the watershed on Nov. 11, 2022.

Power outages are affecting thousands of people across Timmins.

The freezing rain that is hitting the area has caused disruptions to hydro. With trees down, access to some areas and some city services have also been affected.

Hydro One is reporting a number of outages in Timmins.

The largest runs from Gold Centre into Porcupine and impacts over 1,600 customers. Hydro One's outage map does not have a time for the power to be restored, but indicates that crews are working in the area.

Outages are also affecting people in the Delnite, Pine Street South, Dalton Road and Kamiskotia areas. The estimated time for power to return to those areas is 4 p.m.

The Deloro Landfill is closed for the rest of the day for the power outage, the City of Timmins has reported on its social media.

"City crews are currently out addressing some localized flooding, fallen trees from the freezing rain, and water backups," reads the post.

Northern College in Porcupine is also closed for the afternoon due to the power outage.

At Hersey Lake Conservation Area, large trees have fallen and are blocking the road. With the ice, the Mattagami Region Conservation Authority reports that trees are also falling on some of the trails.

"Please stay out of the Hersey Lake CA until we have a chance to evaluate the damage and safely address the issues," reads its Facebook post.

A flood warning is also in effect for the Mattagami River and Porcupine Lake areas.
