OPP INVESTIGATE STEREO AMPLIFIER THEFT (SMOOTH ROCK FALLS, ON) - The Cochrane Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is seeking the public’s assistance in the theft investigation that occurred in the town of Smooth Rock Falls during the Annual Truck Fest.

(SMOOTH ROCK FALLS, ON) - The Cochrane Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is seeking the public’s assistance in the theft investigation that occurred in the town of Smooth Rock Falls during the Annual Truck Fest.

Between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. on the morning of August 25, 2013, a black Sony home stereo amplifier valued at $350 was stolen from the exterior of a camper trailer located on Hollywood Avenue in Smooth Rock Falls.

Any person with information regarding this crime is urged to immediately contact the Cochrane OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CHARGE LAID

(CITY OF TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON)  A 34-year-old male is facing a charge of possessing child pornography.

Members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Temiskaming Crime Unit commenced an investigation on August 22, 2013 at approximately 3:36 p.m.

The OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Unit will also be assisting with the investigation.

Brandon LATOUR of New Liskeard is charged for Possession of Child Pornography.

The investigation is ongoing.

Accused will appear in Haileybury Ontario Court of Justice on November 12, 2013.

 

DRUG CHARGES LAID

(CITY OF TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON)  On August 21, 2013 at approximately 10:45 a.m. the North Bay Drug Enforcement Unit along with the South Porcupine Drug Enforcement Unit of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a residence in Haileybury.

Further investigation resulted in several criminal charges being laid.

William HOLDEN 36, of Thornloe is charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime , Possession of Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD) , Possession of Cannabis Marihuana, Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Ecstasy , Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine , and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cannabis Marihuana .

Karissa TRAHAN 33, of Haileybury is charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime , Possession of Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD) , Possession of Cannabis Marihuana, Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine , and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking N-methyl-3,4-methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDMA) .

Both accused will appear in Haileybury Ontario Court of Justice on October 8, 2013.

 

OPP LAY ASSAULT CHARGE

(IROQUOIS FALLS) – The Iroquois Falls Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged a local youth with a criminal code charge stemming from a dispute which occurred yesterday (26 AUG) at the Jus Jordan Arena in Iroquois Falls.

The investigation is based on a complaint received by detachment officers and accounts of the event provided by witnesses.

OPP officers have completed their investigation and as a result, a 14 year old male youth, who cannot be identified, has been charged with one count of Assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The youth has been turned over to the custody of his parents but must attend at Provincial Court in Timmins on October 7th to answer to the charge laid against him.

 

TRAFFIC COMPLAINT LEADS TO CHARGES 

(SOUTH PORCUPINE) – The South Porcupine Ontario Provincial Police has charged two local men with a number of traffic offences stemming from a traffic complaint received regarding a motorcycle being allegedly driven at a high rate of speed on August 26th, 2013, on Hwy 101, east of Timmins.

An OPP officer had occasion to locate the vehicle that was the subject of the complaint received from a motorist who had observed the vehicle being driven at an unsafe rate of speed.

The vehicle’s driver was stopped and interviewed at the roadside.

Based on the investigative measures undertaken by the OPP officer,

Christopher METSALA, 25, of Timmins, Ontario, has been charged with:

 

-       Driving While Under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

-       Use Other Person’s Licence contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

-       Driving Motor Vehicle – Improper Licence contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

-       Fail to Surrender Permit contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

 

The vehicle’s owner, Preston BEAUDOIN, 42, of Timmins, has been charged with:

-       Permit Unlicensed Person to Drive Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

The vehicle was towed from the scene.
