The Timmins Police Service is issuing a public reminder that the “Helmets On” program is drawing to a close at the end of the month.

Timmins Police Service officers have been actively issuing ballots to those cyclists they have found properly wearing an approved bike helmet while cycling around town.

The recipients of these ballots must turn them in at Timmins Police headquarters at 185 Spruce Street South by August 30 to be eligible for the prizes being drawn which include new bikes and free auto detailing.

The draws will be completed on August 31 at 4 p.m. and the prizes will be distributed to the winners on September 1st at James Used Auto Sales located at 1215 Riverside Drive in Timmins.

The goal of this program was to inspire and encourage the use of helmets by all cyclists regardless of age or experience.

The Timmins Police Service wishes to acknowledge the sponsors and community partners who have generously assisted in making this initiative reach the success level it has.

The Timmins Police is urging all recipient sto turn in their completed ballots before time runs out.
