A long weekend means there are changes to what's open.
For the Easter long weekend, the statutory holiday falls on Good Friday, which is on March 29. Some businesses also give staff Easter Monday (April 1) off so be sure to check ahead before doing your errands — especially at federally regulated services, such as banks.
At the City of Timmins, Service Timmins is closed Easter Friday and Easter Monday.
Garbage collection
There is no municipal garbage pick-up on Good Friday. People who usually get their garbage and recycling picked up on Friday will have it collected on Monday, April 1 instead. Residents who usually get their collection on Monday are unaffected and the service will run as usual.
The Deloro landfill on Pine Street South is closed on Good Friday and open on Easter Monday.
Timmins Transit
The buses are not running on Good Friday or Easter Sunday. Monday's services are modified to a Sunday-level service.
Other municipal services
The Timmins Museum: NEC is closed on Friday, Sunday and Monday. It is open on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.
The Timmins Public Library is open on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is closed on Friday, Sunday and Monday.
The Archie Dillon Sportsplex is also only open on Saturday. It is closed the rest of the long weekend, including Monday.
