While attending the 8th annual Timmins Fur Council Kids Fishing Derby last month, I had the opportunity to talk with Andy Chartrand.
Many may remember Andy from his work with the Timmins Fur Council and his trapping and firearms courses.
During our conversation I asked Andy if he was still holding his trappers, firearms safety and hunters, and restricted firearms courses.
Andy told me that he was and that if anyone was interested in taking the trappers course, it would be a 40-hour course held March 29-31 and again April 26-28.
The firearms safety course and hunters course will be held April 5-7, May 3-5 and Aug 16-18.
Andy has been certified as an FSESO instructor since 2006 and a wilderness handgun safety course coordinator for the province of Ontario since 2009.
The Restricted Firearms course will be held May 6, 2019.
Andy went on to say that anyone interested in taking this course must be at least 18 years of age. Without the restricted course, you are not permitted to own a handgun, he explained.
