A Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) flood watch for the Timmins district has been extended.

It is now in effect until Friday, May 24 at 4 p.m.

"Residents in and around Minisinakwa Lake including low-lying areas of Gogama should keep a close watch on conditions, regularly check for updated messages and stay away from fast moving rivers and streams. Residents are advised that there is a potential risk of flooding in the coming days," according to the MNRF.

The Mattagami Region Conservation Authority (MRCA) has also extended its flood warning for the Mattagami River until May 21.

It was originally issued April 26 and is a notice that flooding is imminent or already occurring.

A flood watch for Porcupine Lake has been cancelled. While the MRCA says the water level there is high, it is dropping.
