A flood warning for the Mattagami River is still in effect.

Today, the Mattagami Region Conservation Authoriy extended the warning until May 21. It was originally issued April 26 and is a notice that flooding is imminent or already occurring.

A flood watch for Porcupine Lake has been cancelled. While the MRCA says the water level there is high, it is dropping.

"Low-lying areas along the Mattagami River are still flooded and water levels in the area remain higher than normal. Residents in flood prone areas near the Mattagami River are reminded to continue monitoring the conditions near their properties," reads the notice.

The city still has sandbags available for people affected by the flooding.

"Residents are reminded to remove unsecured material and equipment from shoreline areas and be prepared with a household emergency plan should a flood emergency be declared. Parents are again asked to let their children know about the dangers of playing in and around lakes, rivers, streams and flooded areas," according to the notice.
