Erratic SUV report ends in said SUV being towed

And its driver charged with impaired

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local driver stemming from an incident which occurred during the early evening hours of Saturday, August 6, in Timmins.

While completing patrols of the downtown core, an officer was alerted to a suspected impaired driver operating a Dodge SUV in an erratic manner, by a passing motorist.

The Timmins Police officer located the subject vehicle a short while later in the Mountjoy Street South area of Timmins and interviewed the driver.

The Timmins Police officer noted that the driver was allegedly displaying obvious signs of impairment due to the consumption of alcohol.

Based on observations made by the officer, the driver was arrested and taken into custody.

As a result, the Timmins Police Service has charged a 36-year-old Timmins woman, with:

  • One count of Impaired operation of a motor vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • One count of operate motor vehicle – over 80 Mgs of alcohol in 100 Mls of blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The vehicle was towed from the scene at the owner’s expense.

The driver was released from custody on a Promise to Appear requiring that she attend Provincial Court in Timmins on August 23 to answer to the charges laid against her.
