MATHESON – Members of the Matheson Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to the scene of a motor vehicle collision that occurred on Highway 11, Taylor Township, at approximately 9:34 a.m. on January 11, 2016.
The head on collision involved a northbound tractor trailer, and a southbound tractor trailer.
The driver of the northbound tractor trailer, Gary MESSENGER, 61 of Latchford, Ontario, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the southbound tractor trailer was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries and released.
As a result of the investigation, the driver of the southbound tractor trailer, Jasvir SINGH, 29, of Winnipeg, Alberta has been arrested and charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Death, contrary to section 249(4) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
The investigation is continuing and police would like to speak to any person who may have witnessed the vehicles prior to the collision.
