A vote on awarding the contract to upgrade the South Porcupine splash pad has been deferred.

The project was up for discussion at Timmins council's March 23 meeting.

The staff recommendation is to award the $394,875 contract to Diamond Head Sprinklers Inc. The item has been deferred to the April 6 council meeting at the request of Coun. John Curley.

Curley asked for the item to be included in the in-camera portion of the April meeting.

The scope of the project is to remove the existing equipment and brick, excavate and fill the area with proper fill, and install a new concrete base and splash pad equipment, according to the staff report.

Eleven submissions were received and ranged in price from $359,000 to $432,500. The project was originally tendered in September 2020. Due to COVID concerns, the request for proposal was put on hold until this year, reads the report.
