Dead Man's Point is one of three cemeteries in the City of Timmins.

Ahead of Mother's Day, the City of Timmins has issued a reminder about cemetery restrictions.

A notice on the city's website reminds people about current provincial restrictions for COVID-19 not allowing outdoor social gatherings or organized public events except with people from the same household or with one person from another household who lives alone.

"The restriction also applies to cemeteries," reads the notice.

"Being private property, cemeteries have the right to control access and may limit numbers even further. The Bereavement Authority of Ontario (BAO) will not, and cannot, order cemeteries to stay open to the public."

For a graveside funeral service, there can be up to 10 people, not including funeral or cemetery staff.

"The maximum of 10 attendees only applies to funeral services. All other cemetery gatherings must follow the one-household-plus-one restriction," according to the city.

"Mask wearing and physical distancing of two meters between people must be practiced at all times by everyone in the cemetery during funeral services."

For more information, the cemetery office can be reached at 705-360-2615.
