Charges added in Kirkland Lake home invasion

On Oct. 11, 2019, members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police, responded to a home invasion on Government Road West in the Town of Kirkland Lake, Ontario.

Preliminary investigation revealed that multiple suspects forced their way into a residence and confronted the occupant before fleeing the scene.

Three additional people have been charged as a result of the investigation.

Rebecca Boulanger, age 39, of Kirkland Lake, Ontario, was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Robbery, contrary to section 343(a) of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Break, Enter a Place, Commit Indictable Offence, contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the CC, and
  • Mischief - Destroy or Damage Property, contrary to section 430(1)(a) of the CC.

The accused was released by means of a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake, on Nov. 28, 2019.

Derrick Thompson, age 23, of Kirkland Lake, Ontario, was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Robbery, contrary to section 344(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Break, Enter a Place, Commit Indictable Offence, contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the CC,
  • Mischief Under $5000., contrary to section 430(1)(a) of the CC.
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000., contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC,
  • Disguise with Intent, contrary to section 351(2) of the CC,
  • Possession of Imitation Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, contrary to section 88 of the CC,
  • Failure to Comply with Prohibition Order, contrary to section 162.2(4) of the CC, and
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing and is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Temiskaming Shores, on Oct. 21, 2019.

Gloria Corcoran, age 37, of Kirkland Lake, Ontario, was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Robbery, contrary to section 343(a) of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Break, Enter a Place, Commit Indictable Offence, contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the CC, and
  • Mischief - Destroy or Damage Property, contrary to section 430(1)(a) of the CC.

The accused was released by means of a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake, on Nov. 28, 2019.

The investigation remains ongoing with members of the Kirkland Lake OPP Detachment with the assistance of the North East Region OPP Crime Unit.
