Operated by the Canadian Centre for Child Protection, NeedHelpNow.ca is a website designed to help teens stop the spread of sexual photos or videos, as well as providing support.

The website is separated into sections, including one dedicated to the removal of photos/videos, where individuals can submit requests to social networking sites for the removal of inappropriate photos or videos.

This includes step-by-step instructions for popular sites such as Facebook, and gives hints on what information to provide for the request.

NeedHelpNow.ca also provides information about dealing with peers, receiving emotional support, how the law applies to these types of incidents, how to help a friend in emotional distress, and information for parents.

The Timmins Police Service and its Technical Investigations Unit is proud to be a partner of the Canadian Centre for Child Protection, and happy to share information about the NeedHelpNow.ca campaign and website.

Those who choose to share intimate images of others online could be charged with Non- consensual distribution of intimate images, pursuant to section 162.1 of the Criminal Code of Canada.

With the growth of the Internet, online crime has become increasingly prevalent, and the Timmins Police Service remains committed to preventing and enforcing this type of crime, as well as ensuring that all victims have the support they need.
