The Living Classroom program brings hands-on PSW training directly into long-term care homes. This immersive approach provides students with real-world experience while completing their studies, ensuring graduates are job-ready from day one.

“Our students will learn by working directly with staff and residents in local long-term care homes,” explained Peter Dykstra, CEO of Medix College. “It’s a unique blend of online learning and on-the-job training that sets our graduates apart. They’re ready to make a meaningful impact immediately.”

The program is 27 weeks long, offering both online and in-person instruction at Extendicare homes in Timmins & Kirkland Lake. Financial support is available through Ontario’s OSAP program, and enrolment is open now.

“Extendicare is excited to do our part to strengthen the seniors’ care workforce by educating future Personal Support Workers through the Living Classroom program,” said Johanna Horne, Regional Director at Extendicare in Northern Ontario.

“Extendicare’s highly qualified health professionals will offer invaluable first-hand experience to help students build new skills through delivering quality care to seniors.”
