2 new COVID cases, 38 recoveries reported

Two new COVID-19 cases and 38 recoveries are being reported by the Porcupine Health Unit today. 

One case is in Timmins and one is in the James and Hudson Bay Region.

The exposure of both cases is under investigation, according to the health unit. 

To date, there have been 887 confirmed cases in the region. Of those, 643 are recovered and 26 people have died. There are 218 known active cases — 187 in Timmins, 21 in the region of Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls and Smooth Rock Falls, nine in the James and Hudson Bay region and one in the Kapuskasing area.

So far, 38,444 people have been vaccinated, which is an increase 1,061 from yesterday's report. There have been 41,502 doses of the vaccine administered.

People 12 years and older are eligible to book their first COVID vaccine dose at clinics offering Pfizer. Clinics with Moderna are open to people 18 years and up. A list of upcoming clinics is available here

There are COVID-19 assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Matheson, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst, and Hornepayne, as well as communities on the James Bay coast.
