11 new COVID-19 cases reported Monday

There are 11 new COVID-19 cases being reported by the Porcupine Health Unit today (June 14).

Since Friday, there have been 82 recoveries.

Five of the new cases are in Timmins, five are in the James Bay area and one person is in the area of Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls and Smooth Rock Falls. 

Six people are the contacts of a case and the exposure of five cases is under investigation. 

To date, there have been 1,870 confirmed cases of the virus in the region. Of those, 1,475 are recovered and 27 people have died. There are 368 known active cases — 73 in Timmins, 265 in the James Bay region, 16 in the area of Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls and Smooth Rock Falls, four in the Kapuskasing area, and one out of region, and the location of nine cases are listed as unknown.

So far, at least 46,666 people have been vaccinated, which is an increase of 408 since it was last updated June 9. There have been 58,786 doses of the vaccines administered. 

There is a pop-up vaccination clinic today in the parking lot of the Timmins Metro from 3 - 8 p.m. A list of upcoming clinics in the region is available here.

There are COVID-19 assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Matheson, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst, and Hornepayne, as well as communities on the James Bay coast.
