Two new local COVID-19 cases reported

They're in the Hearst, Hornepayne, and Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls, and Smooth Rock Falls areas

Two new COVID-19 cases have been reported by the Porcupine Health Unit.

One case is in the Hearst, Hornepayne area, and one is in the area of Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls, and Smooth Rock Falls. The cause of both causes is under investigation and the people are self-isolating, according to the health unit. 

According to the provincial database, both cases are men in their 20s.

To date in the region, there have been 193 confirmed cases of the virus. Of those, 155 are recovered and 10 people have died. There are 28 known active cases. 

There are COVID-19 assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst, and Hornepayne.
