Two new COVID-19 cases reported in Hearst area

One is linked to an institutional outbreak

The Porcupine Health Unit is reporting two new COVID-19 cases in the Hearst, Hornepayne area.

One case is linked to an institutional outbreak, and the exposure for one person is under investigation. Both people are in self-isolation, according to the health unit.

There are two ongoing outbreaks in Hearst — Foyer Des Pionniers long-term care home and RYAM Lumber.

To date, there have been 301 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the health unit region. Of those, 246 are recovered and 24 people have died.

There are COVID-19 assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst, and Hornepayne.
