Three new COVID-19 cases reported in Kirkland Lake area

The Timiskaming Health Unit is reporting three new COVID-19 cases in the Kirkland Lake area.

"One is the contact of a confirmed case and the other two are under investigation. The individuals are self-isolating. Contact tracing is underway and those who have been identified as close contacts have been, or are in the process of being notified," reads the health unit bulletin.

These new cases bring the total for the health unit region to 83. There are 22 known active cases.

A surge of cases in the region started in December.

So far this year, nine cases have been reported.

There are assessment centres in the areas of Temiskaming Shores, Englehart, Kirkland Lake, and Temagami. Testing is by appointment only.
