There are now 24 COVID-19 cases in Timmins area

There are now 24 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the region, including four people in hospital and two in intensive care.

The Porcupine Health Unit is reporting three new cases today, with details available for two of them.

The 22nd case is a man in his 60s in Timmins who is in the intensive care unit at Timmins and District Hospital, according to PHU Medical Officer of Health Dr. Lianne Catton. She said he is connected to another confirmed case, but there are no known links to international travel.

The 23rd case is a man in his 80s in Timmins who is also admitted to hospital. The investigation is ongoing.

She said there is a 24th case, which was confirmed on her way to the daily health table update. There are no further details on that case yet.
