Temiskaming OPP officer tests positive for COVID-19

Police say the member is in isolation

A Temiskaming OPP officer has tested positive for COVID-19. 

The OPP were made aware of the diagnosis April 18. The member's name is not being release to respect their privacy.

"Following public health authorities' advice, the member is in isolation and following recommended health protocols. We wish them a speedy recovery. Their family and colleagues are in our thoughts," reads an OPP news release.

According to the Timiskaming Health Unit, there have 12 confirmed cases in its region, which covers New Liskeard, Kirkland Lake and Englehart. Nine of those cases are resolved.

The Timiskaming Health Unit is aware of 410 tests submitted locally. There have been 297 negative tests and the results of 101 are pending.
